The SMEG fridge is architect designed to look like a vintage 1950’s style icebox while extolling state of the art technology. The single level door, smooth rounded corners, horizontal pull handle and option of ten retro colors help to showcase a streamline look to the SMEG fridge, while the antibacterial interior and LED temperature displays help bring the fridge into the 21st century. The overall dimensions of this fridge are 57 ½ inches high, 23 5/8 inches wide and 27 ½ deep which makes it ideal for small or tight spaces. The single door design can be hinged on either side, allowing even more options for placement in the space. At 9.22 cubic feet in capacity, this fridge will hold just about anything while only using approximately 305 kWh of energy per year. Best of all, the fridge weighs in at around 181 pounds, which will allow it to be moved around in the space without much effort.
The interior of the SMEG fridge boasts not only a full antibacterial interior, but also interior lights, LED temperature displays, three adjustable glass shelves, one fixed glass shelf, one fruit and vegetable bin, and one dairy box. The door of the fridge has two adjustable covered bins, two bottle storage bins, four open adjustable bins, and two egg bins. An ice cube tray is included with the freezer, which is located in the upper half of the fridge. The exterior of the SMEG fridge is made from strong and durable 18/10 stainless steel. The fridge has one horizontal pull handle, which helps to add to the retro look. The available range of colors the SMEG fridge is available in also points to its great vintage design. Ten great colors are available, including red, orange, lime green, black, pink, blue, cream, pastel blue, pastel green, and silver. A special edition fridge with a large Union Jack flag across the door has also been available in limited release.
One of the best features about this fridge is the two separate compressors which service both the freezer and fridge. This allows for separate cooling of both spaces, and helps to protect the flavor, texture, and longevity of the food stored inside both spaces. The SMEG fridge also has two separate electronic on and off switches for the fridge and freezer, which will allow partial shutdown of the unit if needed. Also included with this unit is an intensive cooling switch for the fridge. This switch allows the fridge section of the unit to be cooled more rapidly than if it was just plugged in. This option can be very useful for situations when the unit has been shut down for a period of time, or after the unit has just been purchased. A rapid freezing switch is also included on most units. This rapid freezing switch works much the same as the intensive cooling switch, and allows the freezer section to freeze more rapidly that it normally would. These switches should only be used to achieve the desired temperature in the unit, and then should be shut off. Prolonged use of the switches when the optimum temperature has already been reached will draw unnecessary electrical usage.
